Darrell M. Hanchett founded DMH Automotive Enterprises in 1985 serving the greater Washington County. With roots from Hawaii, Darrell brings the ALOHA spirit to all those he deals with in the automotive industry. Partnered with his wife Kimberly they together have achieved a successful business trusting in their faith in God.
Darrell has gone through extensive formal training in the art of detailing and reconditioning of automobiles. He has traveled extensively around the world setting up other detail shops and providing the staff with formal technical training.

OUR PROCESS
The active ingredients in Jade Ceramic ceramic coatings interact with moisture, primarily from humidity within the atmosphere, and hydroxyl groups (OH-) on the surface to form a semi-permanent covalent bond. The moisture acts as the catalyst to initiate a polymerization reaction to form what is a three-dimensional, crystal lattice framework made up of tetrahedral arrangements of Silicon (Si) and Oxygen (O) atoms.
This crystalline structure formed is very stable, very orderly, and doesn’t need to participate in chemical reactions with salts, acids and alkali – making it very inert and non-reactive.
The physical end result is a very smooth, hard, durable film that produces a very low surface energy that protects the substrate beneath from all manner of chemical attack and physical abrasion.
Longevity
Best thought of as a translation of the coating’s film thickness, which is largely a function of the coating’s activity or ability to build molecular layers of SiO2. If there is more material to wear away then it will last longer, everything else remaining equal.
Durability
The difficulty in removing coating film from a given substrate. This is understood as a combination of the physical and chemical properties of the coating itself and is independent of film thickness. The two terms, longevity and durability, should not be confused together.
Contact Angle
One of the common ways to measure the wettability of a substrate. Wetting refers to the study of how a liquid behaves on a substrate and its ability to either spread out or form boundary surfaces with solids or liquids. Adam’s Polishes ceramic coating products regularly demonstrate contact angles up to 110° or more as measured by an optical tensiometer. The contact angle is what is responsible for the self cleaning effect or “lotus leaf effect” that keeps the substrate cleaner for longer and more maintenance friendly.
Hardness
In the coating industry, is the capacity of a given coated substrate to withstand scratching, marring or gouging. When expressing the measurement of pencil hardness, we do so with a value scale that ranges from 9B (softest) to 9H (hardest).
